When using an intermittent carbonization machine to process wood, it is necessary to achieve deep carbonization and retain the physical properties of the wood to the maximum extent. The following operating points need to be focused on:
1. Avoid excessive carbonization. The degree of carbonization needs to be adjusted according to the purpose of the wood. Excessive carbonization will reduce the toughness of the wood and increase its brittleness. It can be controlled by shortening the residence time in the high temperature section or lowering the target temperature (such as from 240°C to 220°C). Regularly sample and test the hardness and color of the wood and adjust the process parameters.
2. Uniformity guarantee measures. Due to the characteristics of batch operation, intermittent equipment may produce uneven temperature distribution in the furnace. It is recommended to place the wood in layers and use circulating fans to enhance heat convection. For thick boards, the insulation time can be appropriately extended to ensure that the inner and outer layers are carbonized simultaneously.
3. Post-processing moisture-proof management. The hygroscopicity of carbonized wood is enhanced, and it needs to be transferred to a dry environment for cooling immediately after leaving the furnace. It can be covered with a moisture-proof film or placed in a warehouse with a humidity of <40% to prevent moisture from backseeping and affecting stability.
4. Balance between environmental protection and energy consumption. Intermittent equipment starts and stops frequently, and the utilization rate of heating energy needs to be optimized. For example, use waste heat to preheat the next batch of wood, or use biomass fuel to reduce carbon emissions.
By accurately controlling the degree of carbonization, optimizing the heat field distribution, strengthening post-processing and energy management, the practical value of wood and environmental benefits can be guaranteed while improving efficiency.
